Manual Data Input, Comment & Writeback in Power BI using Inforiver

This webinar covers the updates from the July 2022 Major Release for Inforiver – specifically enhancements to manual data input options, comments, and multi-user write-back with live sync.   

The writeback’s original release in Inforiver generated a lot of buzz due to its ease of use in capturing comments, budgets, and forecasts with dynamic allocations. Following are some key enhancements that we will cover in this session in detail.  

Input Data  

1. Support for manual data entry & inputs in reading mode  
2. Support for various input types in columns – text, single select list, multi-select list check box, and date  
3. Capture your budget or forecast number with spread, trending, and allocation methods 
4. Live update of other visuals in the report using the live sync data feature  
5. Audit trail log for all data entry including who added or modified with timestamps and more  

Comments   

1. Auto wrap for comments column 
2. Comments column can be expanded/collapsed to show comment text, assignee, and the status 

Writeback  

1. Performance improvements and increased data volume handling with writeback 
2. Bulk update mode for Azure SQL, SQL server   
3. New destination support: SAP HANA  
4. Writeback the input data to multiple destinations - File-based and DB simultaneously 
5. Users can manage their connections (editing connection details updates all the destinations)  
6. Improved writeback logs - milestone-based progress  

Admin  

1. Retention policy - 180 days default  
2. Allow admins to configure writeback connections 
3. Admins can now restrict report authors from setting up writeback database destinations 

Scheduler/Bursting  

1. Preview the PDF, and Excel output while creating the schedule. Preview will work on report filters or bookmarks so this will be a quick testing step 
2. Support for row-level security added for Reports+ layout  
3. Merge Excel from multiple pages 
4. Reports+ layout can be configured at each destination. (In the previous release, we had only support for email destinations)
